Stencil Installation and Care Instructions

Before You Begin

For the best results, the surface should be:

• clean

• dry

• degreased

• firm and stable (free from dust, loose particles, or peeling)

If the surface has been freshly painted or plastered, wait until it is completely dry according to the material manufacturer's recommendations.

What You Will Need

For Applying Paint

• acrylic paint

• spray paint

• roller

• foam sponge

• stencil brush

• painter's tape

• paper towels or a cloth

For Applying Plaster

• decorative plaster

• plaster

• texture paste

• putty knife or spatula

• painter's tape

• paper towels or a cloth

How to Secure the Stencil Correctly

1. Place the stencil on the surface.

2. Align it using a level or markings, if necessary.

3. Secure the edges with painter's tape.

4. Make sure the stencil lies flat and firmly against the surface.

When working on vertical surfaces, it is recommended to secure all edges of the stencil.

Applying Paint

Using a Sponge

1. Apply a small amount of paint to the sponge.

2. Remove excess paint on a palette or piece of paper.

3. Fill in the stencil design using light vertical dabbing motions.

Using a Stencil Brush

• Load the brush with a minimal amount of paint.

• Remove any excess paint.

• Apply using circular or light vertical motions.

Using a Roller

• Use a mini roller with a short nap.

• The roller should be almost dry.

• Roll gently without applying excessive pressure.

Important: Excess paint is the main cause of paint bleeding under the stencil.

Working with Plaster

1. Secure the stencil firmly.

2. Apply the material in a thin, even layer using a spatula.

3. Remove excess material.

4. Carefully remove the stencil immediately after application. Do not wait for the material to dry.

Once the surface is completely dry, it can be lightly sanded with fine-grit sandpaper if necessary.

Repeating the Pattern

Most decorative stencils feature special registration marks for aligning the design.

For a seamless repeat:

1. Allow the previous section to dry slightly.

2. Align the stencil using the registration marks.

3. Repeat the application process.

Cleaning the Stencil

It is recommended to clean the stencil immediately after use.

To clean it:

• rinse with warm water

• use a soft sponge

• if necessary, use a small amount of mild dish soap

• do not use metal brushes or abrasive cleaners

Allow the stencil to dry completely before storing it.

Storage

• store the stencil flat

• do not bend

• do not fold

• avoid direct sunlight

• keep away from heating appliances

Helpful Tips

1. It is better to apply two thin coats of paint than one thick coat.

2. Before starting, test your application technique on cardboard or an inconspicuous area.

3. For multi-color designs, allow each color to dry completely before applying the next one.

4. If using multiple stencils, clean them between applications of different colors.

5. For the sharpest and cleanest edges, use a minimal amount of paint.
